SDW 2022 event – what you need to know

There is just one day to go until our annual charity sportive and there will be almost 60 members on the road, so let’s make it a sea of blue by wearing our club colours.

A big thank you to everyone who has donated so generously to our charitable partner, Irish Motorneurone Disease Association – we have raised an incredible E11,000 thus far and there is still time time to make a donation https://www.idonate.ie/fundraiser/11446696_sandymount-dodder-wheelers—charity-cycle-2022.html. Every cent will make a difference.

Departure timing

All groups will depart from Bujo – check your group departure time via the spreadsheet circulated on the whatsapp group.

Weather and clothing

The latest forecast is for heavy rain overnight and lighter rain from 07:00 – 10:00 but clearing throughout the day with temperatures rising to approx 17c, so dress please dress accordingly remembering most groups will head over the Gap and pop mudguards on the rear if it is wet and you have them.

Prepare your bike

Our bikes are our best friends. Show them love and they will repay you in spades. Ahead of the event please check your tyres, chain, brakes and lights (it might be misty on top of the Gap).

Food stops

Eat and drink regularly along the ride to ensure you are fuelled for the terrain, so bring bars, gels and two bidons if you are able to.

The 200k, 150k and 100k routes will pass through Larragh, where coffee and cakes will be available within the little shop on the green/triangle. The 200k group can also stop at Baltinglass.

Support and mechanicals
We are grateful to John Mulchay, who will be driving the support van this year. John will be carrying basic supplies, tools, water, bars and medical provisions. Please save his number for any emergencies (086 8254192).

A well-deserved pint!
We look forward to seeing you all at O’Reilly’s in Sandymount at 17:00.

Enjoy the ride.
